This Mother’s Day my husband had to work. When my daughter heard it was Mother’s Day her response was “that means Daddy and I have to make you something!” I guess she loves crafting just as much as we do (yay!). Anyway, knowing that Daddy was going to be out working all day I decided to pull out the handprint casting kit we have had since she was a baby and never got around to using.
My husband has a coffee mug, from Father’s Day last year, with the girly’s handprints on it as well as a Valentines’ card with foot prints from when she was a baby so I decided this one was for me. I set it up, did my handprint, and then Avery’s and then selfishly painted it myself so I could keep it forever. This is how it turned out:
I am considering painting the white part turquoise but haven’t decided yet. I think it would look great both ways. And, as it turns out I somehow forgot to do our picture cards this year. For the last few years I have taken a picture of Avery and I together and put it on a Mother’s Day card for Avery’s Grandmother’s. Now I am extra glad we at least did the hand prints. I do think I should probably get it together and do the photo anyway even though we missed the boat on the card. I like the idea of being able to look back through the years and see how we have changed from year to year.
