Wow, I really haven’t written in quite some time. I have discovered Instagram and have to admit that I will do a quick photo post these days as opposed to a more lengthy blog post. I enjoy writing though so I am making a mental note to try to find the time to write more in the future.
The reason I am writing today though is because this custom order I had the honour of working on last week needed more words. I have a customer who has ordered a number of things from my Etsy shop, both straight from my shop and custom, too. I have to say it feels pretty darn good when someone likes your work so much they keep buying more.
This custom order was extra special though because my customer’s parents lost their dog and he was interested in having me do one of my silhouette’s to give to them as a gift in memory of their furry loved one. Of course, I am a huge animal lover and also still remember when I lost my beloved dog like it was yesterday. After having so many orders from this person I feel like I know him that much better and I wanted to make this one extra special. Ordinarily, I just find silhouettes of a dog breed and paint from that but in this case I thought I would give painting from a photo a shot. I am really happy with how it turned out and hope his parents love it. I also hope Biscuit is happily carrying mail and newspapers at the Rainbow Bridge with my dog, Stella.
This is the photo of Biscuit that I worked from to make the painted sign.
I have been waiting so patiently to post this one! I was asked to do this wedding guest book tree as a custom order back in March. I was given a picture of a tree that was used to have wedding guests sign the leaves then the idea is to frame the paper and you have a piece of art and also a fabulous souvenir of your wedding. This lady wanted one on wood! How great of an idea is that? So, we discussed colours, font etc. and because the couple already have a child she asked me to add an extra bird in (awww!) Then I went to work and I LOVE how it turned out. Of course, because it was a surprise for the bride and groom and their wedding wasn’t until the beginning of May I promised I wouldn’t post it before the wedding. I certainly don’t want to spoil any surprises!! I hope they love it, too.
My latest “I love you to the moon and back” rustic sign. This would be perfect in a child’s room.
My husband recently brought an old baby carriage home. It was in the midst of a bunch of things he was asked to haul away. With my mind wrapped up in upcoming markets and how to display my things I couldn’t help think this would make a great piece for somebody to display their wares at a market. Then I thought “why not me? …I could create a baby & child collection!” and my mind started spinning.
Wouldn’t this make a great piece to display stuff at a market?
So, my question to you is what kind of sign would you put in your baby’s or child’s room? More sayings from children’s books? Pictures of vintage cars or ballet shoes? Anything in particular you have been looking for? Please help inspire me by leaving your comments!!
Recently, my Facebook page hit 100 likes. It made me do a happy dance and think about what I would like to do to celebrate. Immediately, I thought I should give one of my signs away …but which one? I wanted it to be a sign that would appeal to a wide range of people. And then, I thought of the very first sign I made and thought it would be perfect for a giveaway. Who doesn’t love the beach? So, I set to work (the first one has long been sold) and here it is.
If you want to win this fantastic beach sign, click on the picture to connect to the post on my Facebook page. Then leave me a comment telling me which sign of mine is your favourite before midnight PST on March 1, 2015. I will randomly select the winner from the comments.
(And, while you are there feel free to like my page if you haven’t already 😉 )
Guess how much I love you? This is my latest sign. It was on my list to make along with my other Valentine projects but I had to wait for the right piece of wood to come along. And here it is, a sizeable chunk so that it can easily stand alone on a shelf to display if you wanted. Who could resist a rustic well-loved sign for a well-loved quote?
With gearing up to do another market of course I set my mind to Valentine’s Day. It still seems so far away to me …wasn’t it just Christmas? …but when I thought about it I realized it is already January 12th! How did that happen?
Anyway, yesterday was a paint day and here are the things I came up with:
This was a custom order. I was given free reign with the font and I think this one worked perfectly.
Perfect for a Valentine’s Gift, Valentine’s decor or even year round decor.
Who has seen the movie P.S. I love you? It’s one of my favourites. Of course, it comes to mind when I think of love. Another great gift or decor.
This was actually a shingle my husband brought home. It has a natural heart cutout. I love when nature designs things for us! I have been wanting to put these lyrics on a sign for some time and this was perfect.
Recently someone was looking for XOXO blocks so I decided I should do some. Hubby had a 4×4 lying around so I put it to use. I love the rustic well loved feel to these. I made 2 sets.
I had one block leftover after making my sets so a heart it became. Rustic and lovely.
And, of course, I had to do a set of LOVE blocks, too. Also, rustic and lovely
Look for these in the shop soon! (Except for the custom order …that one is spoken for. Although you can always ask and I could do another one special!)
A custom order for a dear friend. I love the message, too!
I had a dear, old friend get in touch and ask me to do a custom order for her. In addition to getting to connect (we don’t live close to each other anymore) I also got to make something for her, too. Yay! I really love how after sanding the wood grain showing through makes each piece unique.
This was also the first thing I photographed in the new house. I am thinking I should start to get my husband to take the photos for me since he did such a great job with the ones of my knit/crocheted items. I also think my other photos I have done to date are just meh. Maybe they should be redone, too? Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?
